It’s Responsible Business Week (20-26th April) this week, a high-profile awareness initiative run by Business in the Community, which aims to demonstrate and celebrate the positive impact of business in society. The week is an opportunity for participating companies to demonstrate ways in which business can, in the words of BITC, ‘work together with other organisations to deliver a fairer society and more sustainable future’. By striving for business excellence in this field, we can all ensure that the future is not only safeguarded, but is successful.
Octink is a great advocate of the work of Business in the Community. As a company that has been part of the West London community for over 50 years, involvement and investment in our local community is part of our business ethos. It is a source of great pride to us that we run not only a successful company, but a conscientious one too. It is both fulfilling and inspiring to support local programmes such as Spark! and Cultivate London, which give young people the opportunity to gain work experience and employability skills.
We’re honoured to have been awarded a CommunityMark, the UK’s national standard for leadership and excellence in the community. We’re one of only 41 companies (out of hundreds of members) to have earned the prestigious standard, which is no mean feat. It’s a very challenging standard, requiring a rigorous assessment process that recognises applicants that have implemented the right practices to achieve long term sustainable benefits to both business and the community.
Far from resting on our laurels, we will continue to operate in a manner that serves the collective needs and interests of our employees, customers and, of course, the community. We hope to see more and more companies striving for business excellence with us in the future.
